Tools:

  • Paper box from Michael’s
  • Fiskars rotary cutter with straight blade
  • Acrylic Paint

This really needs no explanation. I needed to put the scrapbook inserts somewhere and I knew I wanted it in the cocktail lounge, so I bought paper boxes from Michaels.

I cut them directly in half while they were flat and unfolded.

Then, I assembled the box and painted them in hot pink to make the cocktail room colors!

Finished DIY Wedding Guestbook Inserts

Tools:

  • Cardstock paper
  • Printer
  • Fiskars rotary cutter
  • Guestbook inserts template (on Microsoft Word). (This template has been downloaded times.)
  • Fonts for the inserts coming soon.

I really liked the idea of allowing guests to have their own little individual card. After I finished working on the scrapbook pages and pockets, I designed a business card insert in Microsoft Word with some fun, clean fonts I found.

I printed a ton of them on cardstock paper (plain white from Staples).

Then used my Fiskars cutter to clean them up. Final product:

I am going to place them in hot pink boxes (since the cocktail room is hot pink).

Finished DIY Wedding Guestbook Scrapbook Pages

Tools:

  • Scrapbook paper
  • Scissors
  • Corner punch
  • Ribbon and other embellishments
  • Rubber Cement
  • Fiskars rotary cutter

The idea behind this guestbook was that I’d have pages in it with stuff relating to the wedding. Scrap pages of all that good shower, party, proposal stuff. However, I ran out of time. (Surprise.) So I just took a scrapbook page from my NORMAL scrapbook and made it my intro. On the front, it was just a titlepage, er, a welcome page. On the back was the little blurb about how I met Donny.

Then, it was onto making all of the other pages. These pages were going to be chocolate and lavender scrap-background pages with pockets on them. Guests can sign the insert cards and then stick it into the guestbook!

So I made typical scrapbook pages.

Then I needed the pockets. The little envelopes they sell online were ridiculously priced, so like everything else, I made pockets for the cards. Then, I made a MILLION (or less) little pockets that fit a business card. I actually made more that the number of guests in case some people were inspired to write more.

To make those pockets, I cut 5.5&uot; x 4.25" rectangles out of 8.5" x 11" or 12" x 12" scrapbook paper. Then I halved all those rectangles into 2.75" x 4.25" rectangles. (I first started making them out of normal size scrapbook paper, but it was more cost effective to make them out of the larger 12" x 12".)

Then, I took those rectangles and folded along the blue line as shown below (2" from one end. I cut along the dotted red lines after I made the fold.

After that, I punched the corners (optional) in orange. Then, I folded along the purple like and then folded the little flaps around the backside of the pocket.

I rubber cemented the flaps to the back and here we have a finished pocket.

I glued 12 or less pockets, depending if I wanted to put a picture on the page or not, onto the pages.

I made many more pages, but got lazy and didn’t take pictures of all of them. There were enough pockets for each guest. Thinking ahead, if some people made more than one note, I added a "CYA" (cover your ass) page.

Guests could put them in that envelope if there was missing space.

How did I make the book?
How did I make the inserts that go into those pockets?

Tools:

  • Expandable Scrapbook
  • Scissors
  • Brooch pin
  • Satin fabric
  • Sewing Machine

I used to scrapbook everything and I knew that I had to wipe off the dust of my paper supplies to make a wedding scrapbook. When it was time to start thinking about where our guests who place their John Hancocks, I decided to make the "guestbook" part of the wedding scrapbook.

I purchased a plain scrapbook.

I didn’t like the wedding-y ones because they were too… wedding-y. I wanted it in our colors, so the plain purple book was a good choice.

I spruced it up by buying brooch pin and some chocolate satin fabric. The fabric was sewn into a sleeve that fit over the cover of the book and the brooch was used to gather the fabric. This is a lot better.

This completes how I made the plain book more wedding-y, but not so wedding-y. Enjoy.

How did I make the pages that were in the book?
How did I make the cards that people wrote their messages on for the book?
