It’s Not a Club without Dancing

Monday, October 12th, 2009

We met at a dance club. The adult guests all ballroom dance for fun and most of our friends are all club-goers like us. Q, Lexi’s boyfriend, was our DJ and he did a fantastic job playing Vietnamese ballroom music and then mixing awesome dance music for everyone all night. The party didn’t end until 1AM, where the remainder of the guests closed down the local bars.

All images were taken by Mitch Ranger.

Eh, the last thing I wanted to do after the wedding was make more stuff. I ended up asking Mitch to send me the Thank You picture he took (I made the poster with the Vietnamese way to say it.)

Then, I uploaded them to trusty Vistaprint.

We expedited shipping and received them as glossy, folded note cards.

Tools:

  • Design on Microsoft Word
  • Round corner punch
  • Fiskars rotary paper trimmer
  • Sticker paper from Staples
  • Bags
  • Tissue paper
  • Goodies
  • Raffia

Prettttyyyy self-explanatory. I designed the sticker in Microsoft Word, printed them on sticker paper, cut them out with the trimmer, and then punched the corners. I stuck them on the bags and then filled the bags with goodies along with a poem he wrote for the guests and tied them up with the raffia.

I made the labels and he did the rest. Go teamwork!

Tools:

  • Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop (or whatever else you want to use)
  • Champagne metallic cardstock paper from paperandmore.com
  • Fiskars rotary cutter with straight blade
  • Corner punch

Since we didn’t have a traditional American ceremony, we didn’t make programs with "Thank You"s in them. So we put them on the back of the dinner menu. I used the same dragon/phoenix tail vector that I designed for the website and invitation enclosures.

This is the computer draft (a little blurry here due to the high resolution being shrunk to website size). We thanked our representative, parents, bridal party, DJ (a friend), and the MC (a friend). The top righthand side gave homage to our backgrounds. It said "Thank You" in English and in Vietnamese.

First, I printed the dinner menu on the cardstock, then I fed the paper back through the printer (after proper drying) to print the thank you side. Once they were printed and dried, they were cut to size and then the corner punch was used to round off all the corners. Here is the finished product.

Favors

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Our favors were not 100% DIY. We lucked out and Donny’s mom found cute little favor boxes and had our names printed on them in Vietnam.

I had the ladies came over one day to assemble them. They had to first fold the flat boxes.

Then, Donny and the girls stuffed the boxes with Ferreo Rocher chocolates and Andes Mints wrapped in lavender tissue. They tied the boxes up with lavender organza ribbon.

They ended up really cute!

Reception Party Pictures

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

We have an AMAZING photographer booked for the wonderful event. One of the really cool things that he does is set up a red backdrop for "photobooth" type pictures… except these are taken by the highly recommended, commericial and fashion photographer, Mitch Ranger.

Our friends, Jen and Rob, were married last year and he shot their event. Here is an example of what the backdrop photos look like, so please BE INVOLVED in our wedding and put your best goofy face forward!
